W.i.P. Wednesday and Fall Cleaning

Can't believe it's Wednesday already! That holiday weekend really speeds up the week. Here are my works in progress.

Earrings
I love, love, love the way these business cards came out. Thanks to my girls for working it with the button makers! I've been working glue duty, mostly, and am looking forward to "carding" some more finished earrings on Thursday night during Project Runway.

Have also been researching Meylah (does anyone use this?) for a possible storefront. From what I gather, it is free to list your items unless you want to add them to the public marketplace (i.e., free to set up a store as long as you do your own promotion). I have a Big Cartel shop, but that only allows you to list 5 items in the free store, and Etsy of course charges a per item fee as well as a percentage of the sale.

Sewing Studio, Take Two
This weekend I reorganized my sewing space in a major way. It's a breath of fresh air! I'm waiting to get better photos of the space, but this is the most organized my fabric has ever looked, so I had to snap a photo.

Fabric Destash
I also listed some fabrics for swap on Flickr, so pop over if you are into that sort of thing. I'm new to the fabric swap game, so I may see how this goes, or destash on Etsy.

Secret Sewing
I did a little sewing this week, but no photos to show. I am working on of a quilt for the billboard quiltalong, but no finished blocks to show yet, so I'll keep you in suspense.

Craft Book Month + Giveaway
I had a really great Q and A with Allison this week, an editor for Interweave Books. She talks about tips for pitching a book proposal, which I was personally very interested to learn! We're also giving away a copy of this sewing book, so head on over by Friday for a chance to win.

Crafty Links
Craftside- A behind-the-scenes peek at our crafty world
This week at Craftside there is a chance to win a copy of the book Sewing Vintage Aprons along with a fun recycled shirt/apron tutorial, a bunch of portfolio info and how to help a dog when it's overheating, dehydrated and sunburned and a new free Rockport App.

Mixed Media Artist
Cyndi's new friend Kerrie, aka Antikva, shares all kinds of tips on working with shrink plastic!

Aileen's Musings
Aileen's gearing up for Christmas already with an altered wooden domino tutorial.

Cindy Gimbrone Beads
Cindy is one step ahead when she uses a wire wrapping technique to create a poinsetta ring for the holidays.

Crafty Princess Diaries
Tammy altered a star pattern afghan and shows you the results plus how she changed it up a little.

Stefanie Girard's Sweater Surgery
How to cover an umbrella with recycled lace curtain ruffles.

Eileen - The Artful Crafter
Eileen tries her hand at 3D paper tole. It̢۪s not as difficult as it looks, but does require a bit of patience.

  1. Those earrings look great! What are you looking for in exchange for the Flutterby charm pack? I actually haven't seen the whole collection, but I'm loving the top fabric. And who doesn't love Tula Pink?? :)

  2. You are super busy! Go Lindsay go! In terms of the store why not just build it from scratch (or a template) web hosting is super cheap.
